Built in 1850, Ashbourne House is one of a number of grand Victorian homes that were once part of an affluent area of the city known as the Forest Ville estate.
The estate was sold by the Gregory family to Thompson Isaac Birkin, a local lace manufacturer. Tree-lined with wide streets, the attractive residential area stretched from Nottingham’s Arboretum to the Forest Recreation Ground, both of which have huge historical significance to the city.
Ashbourne House is close to the Forest Recreation Ground which has hosted the annual Goose Fair since 1928. Over two centuries ago, the 27.5 hectare site was once the home of horse racing in the county, and ground was once the home of Nottingham Forest F.C.’s first ever home games.
Today Ashbourne House has been tastefully refurbished to offer luxury student accommodation in Nottingham, whilst retaining beautiful architectural features but refitted internally to deliver contemporary, elegant yet functional home living.
